Letters For Luke

I woke up this morning with a text from my Dad, which is unusual.

For one, the man isn’t known for his texting ability. And two, he usually isn’t awake before me.

The text came in at 4:23 am.

“Dear Mom and Dad,

The time is getting close and I’m so excited but a little nervous too. The world can be a scary place, or so I’m told. Having the two of you by my side to help me navigate through it is such a blessing.

Raising me you will make mistakes and so will I. Over the years I’ll make you anxious, tired, happy, proud, and even angry at times just because I’m human, but when all is said and done, I will choose the right path because it was you that showed it to me.

Like you, I’m excited to get the journey started. Just remember to love me as you have been loved. See you soon.

Love,

Luke”

You guys, this man woke up at 3:30 and wrote that for me, from Luke.

I woke up and ugly cried.

I will never know what I did to deserve the parents I have.

He also gave me an idea that I’m contemplating— Letters For Luke.

I am debating either a separate blog just for Luke, or to have it as a part of this one! Thoughts?

I can’t wait to update you all on Luke’s story as he will be here before the week is over. We are so anxious and excited to meet our sweet boy.

  1. You did hit the jackpot for parents and so will Luke. I secured email addresses from yahoo, gmail, outlook, iCloud for Isaiah and email letters to it regularly so he has the account when older (and nobody else can get it – he can decide which he likes better) and so he has the letters (some are more like journal entries) to look back on.
